Your trackpad and keyboard drive the Mac.

The cursor is the Mac's cursor, and your keystrokes land on the Mac rather than on iPadOS. Your Mac's shortcuts are your Mac's shortcuts — Command-C copies on the Mac.

Something no other way of doing this can do: your iPad's mic becomes an input device on the Mac. Dictation apps running there — Wispr Flow, Superwhisper, macOS Voice Control, anything that listens to the default input — hear you from wherever you are sitting, and the text lands in the Mac app you were already in.

Isn’t this Sidecar?

Sidecar gives your Mac an extra screen while you sit in front of it. SOME Desk gives you the Mac itself — from another room, with the Mac’s lid shut and its own screen asleep, over your own network rather than a proximity link. Sidecar is excellent at what it does, and it is free. It is just not portable.

How is this different from Jump Desktop or Screens?

Two things, in this order: the matched display and the microphone. They scale a desktop to fit your iPad; SOME Desk creates a display that already fits it. And neither of them carries your iPad’s mic to the Mac. Jump Desktop in particular is genuinely good — this is a difference, not a complaint.

Does my Magic Keyboard trackpad work?

It drives the Mac’s own pointer — not a touch overlay laid over a picture of your desktop. Your Mac’s keyboard shortcuts land on the Mac rather than on iPadOS, so Command-C copies on the Mac. A couple of system shortcuts iPadOS keeps for itself never reach any app, ours included — a platform rule, not something we can fix. We are still putting the Magic Keyboard trackpad through a full working session before we say anything about how it feels — when that is finished, this answer will say so plainly.

Does it work with Wispr Flow specifically?

Yes, and with anything else that uses the system default input. We are not built against one app.

Do I need to install something on my Mac?

Yes. A matched display and a virtual microphone are not things an iPad app can conjure from the outside. Signed, notarized, free.

Will it work over the internet?

Over your own Tailscale today. Built-in anywhere-access is on the roadmap and is not in this version.

What about system audio, clipboard or multiple Macs?
